The Windmills (Kato Myli).

Standing in a neat, whitewashed row on a hillside overlooking the Aegean Sea, the Windmills of Kato Mili are the defining silhouette of Mykonos. Built primarily by the Venetians in the 16th century to harness the island’s fierce northern winds, these cylindrical, thatched-roof structures were once the engines of the local economy, grinding wheat and barley for export. Today, seven of these historic mills remain, positioned between the old harbor and the waterfront neighborhood of Little Venice. While they no longer grind grain, they serve as a premier vantage point. Visitors gather on the windswept ridge for panoramic views of Chora’s white-and-blue rooftops, the harbor below, and the sunset, making it a place where the island's agricultural past and coastal beauty converge.
