The estate has remained in the Loosen family for over two centuries, but it was Ernst Loosen who propelled it to global fame by championing terroir-driven wines from historic, ungrafted old vines. Visitors head to the St. Johannishof estate to sample structured, dry Grosses Gewächs (Grand Cru) bottles alongside classic, mineral-rich Rieslings sourced from legendary vineyards like Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Tastings are held by appointment in a newly built vinothek designed with vaulted ceilings and stone arches that mimic an old-world cellar.
