Cleopatra Spring.
Tucked away in the remote Siwa Oasis along the path to the Temple of the Oracle, Cleopatra Spring—also known as Juba Spring—is the region’s most famous natural pool. While there is no historical proof that the Ptolemaic queen ever bathed in these waters, the legend endures, adding a layer of myth to this stone-ringed pool fed by natural spring water. Surrounded by date palms, olive trees, and casual open-air cafés, the spring remains a social hub where both travelers and locals gather. The water is remarkably temperate, feeling cool in the scorching summer and warm in the winter. Visitors can descend the stone steps for a swim or simply sit in the shade with a cup of traditional mint tea, taking in the slow-paced desert atmosphere of this ancient oasis retreat.
