Lucida.
Situated within the Hacienda Red compound on Egypt’s North Coast, Lucida is a study in organic design and high-concept Mediterranean dining. The space, envisioned by Shahira Fahmy Architects, is defined by an undulating roof crafted from Jereed ElNakhl (palm leaves) and local earth, creating an intimate, cavernous atmosphere that feels both primitive and polished. At its center, an oculus filters natural light over a continuous bar that anchors the room. The kitchen operates on a scale rarely seen in the region, turning out a menu of refined international staples like beef schnitzel, seabass, and saffron-infused risottos. As the sun sets, the focus shifts from a sophisticated lunch spot to a high-energy lounge, often hosting guest DJs and live sets that transform the textured, mud-walled interior into one of the coast’s most vibrant social hubs.
