Tortuga Bay Beach.

Tortuga Bay is one of the Galapagos’ most rewarding day trips, reached via a paved 45-minute walking path from the edge of Puerto Ayora. The journey ends at a stunning expanse of fine white coral sand split into two distinct ecosystems. First comes Playa Brava, an exposed stretch of coast with crashing waves and strong currents where swimming is forbidden, but where marine iguanas sun themselves on black volcanic rock. Just beyond lies Playa Mansa, a tranquil, mangrove-lined cove where the water is calm enough for swimming, kayaking, and spotting baby black-tip reef sharks and sea turtles. With no shops, lounge chairs, or bathrooms on-site, the beach remains entirely undeveloped, preserving a raw, wild landscape where animals, not tourists, dictate the pace.
