Augustine.
Housed within a 13th-century monastery in Malá Strana, the Augustine is less a themed conversion and more a living historical complex. The hotel spans seven interconnected buildings, including a wing still occupied by practicing monks. Designer Olga Polizzi balanced the ecclesiastical heritage with modern luxury, utilizing a palette of papal-inspired colors alongside vaulted ceilings, original frescoes, and stone carvings. The 101 rooms often feature views of Prague Castle and design nods to Czech Cubism. Guests can tour the monastery’s private church library or retreat to the former refectory, now Bar 1887, to drink St. Thomas beer brewed from an original 14th-century recipe. It is a rare property that manages to feel like a working piece of Prague history rather than a museum piece.
