Church of St. Lucas.
Housed in a former Anglican church from 1877, the Museum Church of St. Lucas is one of Karlovy Vary's most eccentric attractions. Designed by Leipzig architect Oskar Mothes, the pseudo-Gothic red-brick building is a striking departure from the town's typical baroque spa architecture, featuring a Latin-cross layout and beautiful original stained-glass windows. Today, the sacred space serves as a House of Wax, displaying a quirky collection of some of the world's oldest wax figures. The exhibits focus heavily on royal family members, artists, and famous historical personalities who famously frequented the Czech spa town, alongside archival films. It is a wonderfully surreal stop where 19th-century ecclesiastical architecture meets pop culture, just a short uphill walk from the town center.
