Lužánky Park.
Established in 1786 by Emperor Joseph II, Lužánky is the oldest public park in the Czech Republic and Brno’s largest urban green space. Once a Jesuit garden, this 22-hectare park seamlessly blends historic monuments with a lively, lived-in energy. Its architectural centerpiece is the 1855 Renaissance Revival pavilion, designed by Viennese architect Ludwig Förster, which has hosted concerts and public events for generations—even drawing a young Leoš Janáček. Today, the park remains a favorite local hangout. Visitors can stroll along tree-lined paths, watch fish in the artificial brook, or admire allegorical statues and fountains. Equipped with tennis courts, playgrounds, and casual cafés, it is a scenic, practical retreat that offers a genuine slice of Brno's daily life.
