Ta Piatakia.
Ta Piatakia is a fixture of the local dining scene, defined by the eccentric vision of its Greek-South African chef-owner, Roddy Damalis. The name translates to "Little Plates," a literal nod to the tapas-style meze menu and the hundreds of ceramic plates that line the walls and dangle from the ceiling. The atmosphere is tight and intimate, seating fewer than 40 guests in a space where tables are tucked close together. Rather than traditional taverna fare, the kitchen focuses on creative Mediterranean fusion, using local produce for inventive hits like deep-fried celery leaves, feta wrapped in honey-soaked filo, and seasonal fruit-based salads. Roddy is a constant presence on the floor, often personally walking diners through the daily specials with an infectious, hands-on passion.
