La Guarida.
Stepping into La Guarida feels like walking onto a film set, which is fitting given its fame as the location for the iconic Cuban movie *Fresa y Chocolate*. Housed in a crumbling yet majestic early 20th-century mansion in Centro Habana, the restaurant is reached via a grand, sweeping marble staircase that sets a cinematic tone. Inside, the space is an eclectic mix of antiques, contemporary art, and mismatched fine china. While it began as a modest 12-seat paladar, it has evolved into a sophisticated destination for "new Cuban" cuisine, balancing traditional flavors with modern techniques. After dinner, the Bar Mirador on the rooftop offers a stark, breezy contrast to the nostalgic dining rooms below, providing craft cocktails and panoramic views of the Havana skyline and the Malecón.
