Playa Conchal.
Playa Conchal stands out on Guanacaste’s Gold Coast for its distinct shoreline, where the "sand" is actually a shimmering expanse of tiny, crushed white seashells. This geological quirk does more than just provide a satisfying crunch underfoot; the lack of fine sediment keeps the turquoise water exceptionally clear, making it one of the premier snorkeling spots in the region. While the northern end is anchored by high-end resorts and manicured golf greens, the beach retains a wide, public feel along its four-kilometer stretch. Visitors can swim among schools of tropical fish right off the shore or head toward the rocky outcrops for better visibility. It is a place of bright contrasts, where the pale shell-grit meets a dense backdrop of dry forest, offering a more tactile and vivid landscape than the typical volcanic stretches found elsewhere in Costa Rica.
