McBean Lagoon National Natural Park.
Old Providence McBean Lagoon National Natural Park protects a vibrant stretch of the Caribbean known for its "Sea of Seven Colors." Located on the northeast side of Providencia, the park is anchored by a 32-kilometer coral barrier reef, one of the longest in the world. Visitors typically base their exploration at Crab Caye, a small island reached by boat or kayak that offers clear, shallow waters perfect for snorkeling among groupers and sea turtles. Beyond the reefs, the park encompasses dense mangrove forests and the tropical dry forest of Iron Wood Hill, where hiking trails lead to panoramic views of the surrounding turquoise lagoons. As part of the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, the area remains remarkably preserved, offering a quiet, low-impact alternative to more crowded regional hubs while showcasing the deep maritime traditions of the local Raizal community.
