Museo Mapuka.

Located on the Universidad del Norte campus, Museo Mapuka offers an essential primer on the pre-Hispanic history of Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Named after the indigenous Karib word, the museum eschews isolated display cases in favor of a chronological narrative. Visitors journey from the continent’s earliest nomadic settlers through to the complex societies of the Taironas, Zenúes, and Malibúes. The collection of ceramics, jewelry, and tools illustrates how these distinct groups traded, farmed, and navigated the region's waterways. Uniquely, the story doesn't stop at colonization; a dedicated section uses European artifacts and maps to show the collision of worlds. Note that the museum is undergoing a major museographic renovation ahead of its 10th anniversary.
