Fundación Zoológico Santacruz.
Nestled in a misty Andean cloud forest in San Antonio del Tequendama—about nine kilometers from the famous Tequendama Falls and a day trip from Bogotá—Fundación Zoológico Santacruz offers a distinct departure from typical urban zoos. Established in 1974, this conservation-focused sanctuary sits 1,860 meters above sea level, providing a lush, cool mountain setting for around 1,000 animals. The collection heavily emphasizes native Colombian wildlife, housing rescued and confiscated species alongside select exotics across its 32,000-square-meter grounds. Visitors can explore winding forest paths to see mammals, birds, and reptiles, or participate in night safaris and educational workshops. With an on-site restaurant and a petting farm, it is a highly active, family-friendly conservation hub.
