Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries - Wolong, Mt Siguniang and Jiajin Mountains.
The Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, comprising Wolong, Mt. Siguniang, and the Jiajin Mountains, span 924,500 hectares and house over 30% of the world's endangered giant pandas, forming the largest contiguous habitat for this species. This area is not only critical for panda conservation but also shelters other endangered wildlife such as red pandas, snow leopards, and clouded leopards. Botanically rich, it features 5,000 to 6,000 plant species across over 1,000 genera, positioning it as one of the world's top biodiversity hotspots. The stunning landscape includes steep valleys, scenic rivers, and majestic peaks, making it a prime destination for eco-tourism. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2006, these sanctuaries are essential for conservation efforts and preservation of unique ecosystems.
