Liyuan.
Situated on the edge of Lihu Lake, Liyuan Garden is a classic Jiangnan-style water garden defined by its unique three-sided lakefront setting. Unlike more enclosed traditional gardens, water makes up nearly half of this eight-hectare park, creating an airy, expansive landscape where low artificial hills, stone bridges, and elegant pagodas frame views of the open water. The garden’s name carries romantic weight, tied to the ancient legend of politician Fan Li and the legendary beauty Xi Shi, who allegedly boated here during the Spring and Autumn period. Inside, visitors can wander through corridors of red peach blossoms and weeping willows in spring, or explore the park's signature stone embankments. It is a scenic, storied spot designed for slow walks and capturing classic lakeside vistas.
