Diecai Mountain.
Rising directly beside the Li River in the heart of Guilin, Diecai Mountain—or "Folded Brocade Hill"—gets its name from the layered, fabric-like appearance of its limestone formations. Reaching the summit of Bright Moon Peak, which stands just 70 meters high, requires a brief but steep climb up a stone staircase. The reward is a panoramic view of the city’s famous karst landscape and winding waterways. Partway up, the path leads through the Wind Cave, a natural tunnel where a cool breeze blows year-round, its walls covered in historic Chinese calligraphy and cliff carvings. For an unconventional descent, visitors can pay a small fee to ride a granite slide from the upper slopes back to the base, capping off a classic Guilin outing that blends scenery, history, and a bit of novelty.
