Inner Harbour.
Victoria’s Inner Harbour is the working heart and defining postcard image of the city. Far from a sanitized tourist strip, this active waterway is a constant choreography of chugging water taxis, whale-watching vessels, and roaring Harbour Air seaplanes. The entire basin is framed by Victoria’s grandest architecture, including the Parliament Buildings and the Fairmont Empress Hotel. A dedicated pedestrian causeway, built just below street level, lets you stroll right along the water’s edge, where street performers, local artisans, and outdoor patios crowd the paved path during the warmer months. It is a highly walkable, multi-layered hub where the area's deep lək̓ʷəŋən heritage, colonial-era landmarks, and the daily hustle of a modern saltwater port all occupy the same compact space.
