Calgary Tower.
Standing 191 meters above the downtown core, the Calgary Tower has been a defining fixture of the city’s skyline since it opened in 1968 to celebrate Canada’s centennial. While no longer the city's tallest structure, this mid-century landmark remains the ultimate vantage point for understanding Calgary’s geography, offering a 360-degree panorama that stretches across the urban grid to the prairies and the Rocky Mountains. Brave visitors can step onto the glass floor extension on the north side to peer straight down at the streets below. For a slower look at the changing scenery, Sky 360, the revolving restaurant at the top, completes a full rotation every 45 to 60 minutes. Down at the tower's base, the long-running Vertigo Theatre adds a dash of local culture to this classic civic hub.
