Ream National Park.
Ream National Park, located just 30 minutes from Sihanoukville, offers a diverse coastal ecosystem where freshwater wetlands, lowland evergreen forests, and mangrove-lined estuaries meet the Gulf of Thailand. This 210-square-kilometer reserve is best navigated by boat, taking visitors through winding mangrove channels and out to offshore islands like Koh Thmei, known for its coral reefs and seagrass beds. While the park’s infrastructure shows signs of wear—including neglected hiking trails and decaying boardwalks—it remains a vital refuge for wildlife, hosting rhesus monkeys, dolphins, and a vast array of migratory birds. Today, the park offers a raw, unfiltered look at Cambodia's natural biodiversity alongside the visible pressures of modern coastal development.
