Lake Yeak Laom.
Located just five kilometers from Banlung, Yeak Laom is a striking, nearly perfect circular crater lake formed by ancient volcanic activity. Encircled by a ring of dense, protected forest, the lake's remarkably clear, emerald-green water is a popular spot for a refreshing swim, accessible via wooden docks jutting from the shoreline. A scenic walking path winds entirely around the 800-meter-wide perimeter, offering a quiet 45-minute hike through territory rich with birds and butterflies. Beyond its natural beauty, the lake holds deep spiritual significance for the local Indigenous Tampuan community, who actively manage the protected area. Along the trail, a small visitor center showcases their stewardship, displaying traditional hand-woven crafts, instruments, and tools.
