Virachey National Park.

Spanning over 3,300 square kilometers across Cambodia’s rugged northeast, Virachey National Park is a vast, mostly untamed wilderness of dense semi-evergreen forests, upland savannahs, and misty mountains. This ASEAN Heritage Park is one of the country's most vital biodiversity strongholds, harboring rare species like the northern yellow-cheeked crested gibbon, clouded leopards, and vibrant birdlife. The park's human history is just as deep, home to Indigenous communities like the Brau and Kavet, alongside overgrown remnants of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Do not expect manicured trails or easy sightseeing; exploring here requires multi-day guided treks arranged through the park office in Banlung, leading hikers deep into a frontier landscape that remains largely undisturbed.
