Rising abruptly from the flat, arid expanse of the northwestern Kalahari, the Tsodilo Hills are one of Africa's most significant spiritual and archaeological landscapes. Often called the "Louvre of the Desert," this UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of four distinct quartzite formations known locally as the Male, Female, Child, and Grandchild hills. Across these cliffs lie more than 4,500 ancient rock paintings, some dating back over 20,000 years.
