Emperor's Mosque.

The Emperor's Mosque, known as Careva Džamija, is Sarajevo's oldest mosque, originally built in 1457 and rebuilt in stone in 1565. As the largest single-subdome mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina, its classical Ottoman architecture features a spacious interior, balanced proportions, and detailed decorative elements like stunning stalactites and a beautifully crafted mihrab. Historically significant, the mosque was central to the development of Sarajevo, with early settlements forming around it. A burial ground nearby contains graves of notable figures. Despite suffering damage during the 1992-1996 war, the mosque remains a vital cultural landmark, open to visitors and offering guided tours to explore its rich history and beauty.
