Amankora Punkha.
Reached by crossing a prayer-flag-draped suspension bridge over the Mo Chhu River, Amankora Punakha is set in a subtropical valley of rice paddies and orchards. The property’s heart is a 300-year-old traditional farmhouse, once the residence of a Bhutanese chief abbot, which now hosts intimate dining areas. Guest suites are housed in low-rise residential blocks designed to mimic local vernacular architecture, featuring wood-burning stoves, wood-paneled walls, and terrazzo-clad bathtubs. The resort’s standout feature is its 29-meter heated outdoor infinity pool looking out over agricultural terraces, alongside a two-story spa with a yoga and meditation room. It serves as an atmospheric base for exploring the nearby Punakha Dzong and joining guided hikes through the valley.
