Zoo Atlanta.
Located within historic Grant Park, Zoo Atlanta is defined by its industry-leading work with primates and its long-standing status as one of the few U.S. homes for giant pandas. The Ford African Rain Forest houses one of North America’s largest populations of western lowland gorillas, while the Scaly Slimy Spectacular complex reimagines the traditional reptile house with a massive glass entry dome and over 70 species of amphibians and reptiles. Beyond the animal habitats, the experience leans into interactive family features like the Treetop Trail—an aerial adventure course—and a vintage 1863 locomotive replica. While the beloved giant pandas are scheduled to return to China in late 2024, the zoo remains a major conservation hub, particularly noted for its success in breeding rare species like the Arakan forest turtle and its expansive African Savanna.
